Long serving Board member and Chair, David Schmude has stepped down from the UniSport Australia (UniSport) Board at the 29th Annual General Meeting.
Schmude tenured on the UniSport Board from 2016 to 2020, with his appointment to Chair in 2018.
New Board Chair, Chris Massey thanked David for his time and support on behalf of the Board, staff and members.
“David’s tenure on the Board is recognised as being over a period of change for UniSport where he was instrumental in the recruitment of current CEO, Mark Sinderberry, implementation of the Nationals event format and University Basketball League, and in leading UniSport through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
UniSport Australia CEO, Mark Sinderberry thanked David for his impact on UniSport during his time on the Board.
“David has made a significant contribution to UniSport over a number of years, always a strong supporter of opportunities for regional universities as well as advocating for the value of sport to the broader University sector. David’s experience and friendly welcoming nature has been greatly valued, and we are delighted that he will continue in his international roles with Oceania and FISU”
David will continue working in the university sector, as CEO of the University of New England’s UNE Life headquarters.
“I feel very honoured to have served on the Unisport Australia Board. I would like to thank our members and my fellow directors for their support over the years during my term. I would especially like to thank, Mark and the staff of Unisport Australia for their dedication and service to the organisation and to our members. I look forward to supporting Unisport Australia and our members in the future” says Schmude.
David will also continue with his role as the FISU Oceania President, a position that he was elected to in 2019.
