Matt Roseby brings his US college experience to the UBL as a first year student at Melbourne Uni

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

Birthplace: Sydney, Australia

Height: 206cm

Position: Forward

Jersey number: 20

Course of study: Bachelor of Arts (major Economics, minor Psychology)

Brought up in Sydney, Matt was a swimmer for the first decade of his life. However, growing tired of the endless laps, he found himself shooting hoops from around 10 years of age and has never looked back.

Out of high school, he followed his basketball coach to the US to play high school and college ball for three years and loved the incredible experience he had playing over there.

Following the shutdown of basketball in the US in 2020, Matt came back to Australia and landed himself in the University of Melbourne's first ever UBL squad.

A current student at The University of Melbourne, Matt is studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics with a minor in Psychology.

On graduating, he has plans to move into the private equity sector, but wants to continue playing basketball competitively for as long as possible.

If he's not on the basketball court, you'll generally find him courtside volunteering as a coach for younger players, or else donning the full wetsuit to brave the cold Victorian surf.

On his proudest achievement, "Probably when I got my first scholarship offer, that was pretty amazing."

Perhaps a move back to the US in the future? Who knows. Matt is taking everything as it comes.
