For release: 7 August 2024

With just one month to go, the excitement is building for the 2024 UniSport Nationals, in Canberra from 7 – 13 September.

Nationals is our premier event each year, crowning the national university champions in over 30 sports. Nationals is the culmination of various standalone national championships held throughout the year, and results from September’s marquee event. Our 42 member universities from across Australia will converge in the nation’s capital to showcase their skills and compete for national titles.

Nationals, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and high-calibre competition, will transform Canberra into a hub of athletic excellence and camaraderie. Over the course of a week, competitors will battle it out in 31 different sports, including traditional favourites like Basketball, Soccer (Football), and Rowing, as well as emerging disciplines such as Oztag and Ultimate Frisbee.

“The 2024 UniSport Nationals promises to be a landmark event for competing student-athletes,” said Mark Sinderberry, UniSport Australia CEO.

“This year’s Nationals will spotlight some of our remarkable emerging talent from across the nation and reignite university rivalries. Canberra is ready to welcome and celebrate these incredible competitors, and we’re excited to witness the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence that defines this event.”

Canberra has several state-of-the-art facilities playing host to Nationals events, including the Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre, the AIS Combat Centre, Tennis World Canberra and various other hubs and venues across the city. These locations will provide the perfect backdrop for our competition.

“Canberra is a fantastic destination for Nationals,” added Sinderberry, “and we would like to extend our appreciation to our strategic partners, the ACT Government and Visit Canberra who have supported university sport and the 2024 UniSport Nationals in particular.”

Entries for Nationals are still open for late registration in select sports. We encourage those interested in participating to visit the UniSport Australia website for details and deadlines.
