Nationals Snow cancelled for 2021

UniSport Australia (UniSport) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 UniSport Nationals Snow Championships, which were due to be held on the 29 August – 2 September in Thredbo, NSW.

The decision to cancel the event was made after the recent announcement of the heightened restrictions from the New South Wales Government regarding the current COVID-19 outbreaks and lockdowns in the Greater Sydney region and Victoria, which is preventing many universities being assured they can travel to Thredbo for the competition dates.

The decision has been made following consultation with Thredbo Resort, key event stakeholders and member universities. The safety of our staff, participants, volunteers, officials, and local community within the host region remains the highest priority during this time. UniSport would like to express gratitude for their understanding, patience, and continued support.

“The decision to cancel our event was not taken lightly. We want to ensure the health and wellbeing of our members and their students while also providing our participants with the best experience at Nationals through competition and their time spent at Thredbo Resort.” said Mark Sinderberry CEO, UniSport Australia.

All registration fees paid to date will be refunded as per the UniSport Participant Refund and Withdrawal guideline.

At this stage, the remaining UniSport Nationals events including League of Legends and Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 presented by UniBank are scheduled to run as planned. UniSport continues to monitor the local, state and national government advice regarding actions being taken to minimise the impact of COVID-19 in the community. All updates will be provided via our website and major announcements will be sent directly to all students, members and stakeholders via email.
