With the Australian summer in full swing more people are at the beach in the pool. As Melbourne University (MU) welcomes the newest cohort of international students they are providing the opportunity to participate in the MU Sport Water Safety Program.
This program was launched in 2017 after identifying the danger for international students when first arriving in Australia. Following the success of the initial program, further funding was granted which has allowed 1,600 students to participate in each year since.
The Water Safety Program is organised in partnership between MU Sport and Life Saving Victoria, and is a free aquatic education program that’s primary focus is providing university students with the awareness, knowledge and skills crucial for water safety, survival and rescue. It has also had the additional benefit of providing participants with a way to form connections and friendships.
You can register an expression of interest for the 2023 Water Safety Program and read more about the program here.
