2024 FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy: Empowering Student Leaders in Global Sports Community

The 2024 FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy (FVLA) has concluded with resounding success, marking a significant milestone in the development of student leaders in the global sports community. The FVLA is a unique educational event designed to empower young leaders through a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application. Participants engaged in workshops, seminars, and hands-on projects that focused on international university sport and how to manage volunteer programs.

Following the conclusion of the FVLA, delegates are appointed as FISU Student Ambassadors and are tasked with embodying the academy’s values and mission in their communities, acting as catalysts for change and advocates for volunteerism in sports. 75 National University Sport Federations, 3 Continental University Sport Federations and a total of 120 participants joined the FISU Student Ambassadors programme during the September 2024 online event.

FISU Student Ambassadors - Australia - Alexandra Chua (Curtain University) & Stella Rose Lay (Victoria University)

Among the 2024 Ambassadors are Stella Rose Lay (Master of International Community Development, Victoria University) and Alex Chua (Bachelor of Education, Curtin University) both representing Australia. Showcasing their leadership potential, dedication to community service, and passion for sports, Stella and Alex bring unique perspectives and experiences, ensuring a rich tapestry of voices committed to inspiring others.

Stella and Alex will embark on their terms equipped with the tools and insights gained from the academy. Additionally, they will serve as vital links between the FVLA and the global student athlete community. Together, they will promote the values of collaboration, sustainability, and inclusivity. Stella and Alex are poised to inspire a new generation of sports leaders, and we look forward to witnessing their impact on the university sports community.
