UniSport has partnered with Sport Australia through the Move It Australia grant, plus 11 pilot universities to officially launch the UniMoves program.
The launch of UniMoves coincides with Nationals Div 1, so all 11 universities can particpiate in the first UniSport/UniMoves challenge. Which university will be crowned the champion mover of Div 1?
Staff, students and alumni of the participating universities are encouraged to get moving!
The UniMoves program aims to get 12,000 university students and staff active or more active by encouraging them to move more and “Find Your 30”.
Powered by the Technogym, each of the participating universities have their own customised versions of the MyWellness App, which are all now available for download in the iTunes and Google Play stores.
Over the next 9 months, the 11 universities are aiming to significantly change the way of life on campus and improve the health and wellbeing of staff and students alike.
While the universities are planning walking groups, running groups, social sport and many other structured activities, the program also promotes simple habits.
Whether it’s encouraging students to take the long way around campus, staff to hold walking meetings or running low impact pop up activities, students and staff can get active without getting sweaty, the program is leaving no stone unturned to improving the health and wellbeing of staff and students.
Technogym’s MyWellness platform enables staff and students to track their activity, compete in challenges against each other, gain access to an array of fitness programs and find out about all the activities happening on campus.
The potential of the app and the UniMoves program huge. Some of the universities have already identified it as a key tool to promote their health and wellbeing messages to reach staff, international students, student alumni and an ever-increasing cohort of online/external students.
All 11 apps went live just last week and already the program can boast close to 1,000 app downloads and active users.
