Today at the 2019 UniSport Annual General Meeting, Dr Deidre Anderson and Ms Kim Guerin were inducted as UniSport life members, following years of selfless and inspiring dedication to university sport in Australia.

Both Dr Anderson and Ms Guerin received unanimous support from the members for induction.

In a video message played to the AGM, Dr Anderson reflected on many years spent on the UniSport board.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the honour of being a life member of UniSport” Dr Anderson said.

“It has been a labour of love for over a decade and I’ve enjoyed my time on the board and at Macquarie University” she said.

“I enjoyed my time as Chair and I want to thank you for having the courage to support the new direction and the new national championships.”

Kim Guerin’s partner was in attendance to receive the life membership award from UniSport Chair David Schmude, following the passing of Ms Guerin in 2018.

Ms Guerin was the Director of Campus Life and the CEO of U@MQ after joining Macquarie University in 2015.

Speaking of her former colleague and great friend, Dr Anderson took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to Kim Guerin and spoke to the incredible legacy Ms Guerin has created.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the second recipient of the life membership and that’s Kim Guerin” said Dr. Anderson

“The legacy that she has left in the lives of so many people will go on for many many years to come” she said.

“I’ve had the honour of working with Kim, and I’ve known Kim for quite some time and of all the people I’ve got to share this honour with, it’s Kim.”
